Yarra Valley Wine & Petanque Tournement

Magical tour of 2 wineries, a tournement of Petantanque finishing up a chocolate factory,  on the best weather day of the season with a fantastic group of members. What could be better than that?

AMAZING!

It was truly an amazing day. Greg Harris, our Driver and tour guide was ready and waiting well in time for load up and more amazing? ....everybody arrived on time. Whoo Hoo!

The only downside was to the Gardening Club, who had a meeting in the clubrooms from 09:30. It seems most of the parking spots were taken. Oh Dear!

So, off we charabanc-ed, Greg handling the traffic in his own inimitable profesional way, arriving at St Huberts where some chose to taste, some chose to premium taste, some had coffee and some visited the Gallery. Best value in purchasing - 6 bottles of "Julia" wine for $35. Normally one bottle for $25. (or so they said). The Clubs wine prize stocks were happy to take advantage.

Off in time to get to Helen's Hill winery where our organized tasting of 7 wines- with a grazing board of spectacular offerings was enjoyed with great entertainment from our wine presenter.

This was followed by our mixed pizza lunch with a glass of wine of our choice from the tasting samples. Fantastic value for $45.00.

By now, most were ready and "relaxed" enough for a game or 2. We had a brilliant selection of areas to play. Although there was some mention of the smoke from the fire pit being a little distracting. Again though..it was an amazing setting and all included in the negotiations Kathy had with the Manager and Family member; Alex.

Keeping closely to our timetable, we departed Helen's Hill for the YV Chocolate Factory. After all where else would you want to go immediately after Easter.

Huge acknowledgement must go to Greg Harris for not only  procuring and driving the coach, but also his expertise in driving. Particularly on the return journey. There was a great deal of heavy traffic with which to contend due to the road works, but also most of the driving home was into direct setting sun. And it didn't finish for him with just dropping us back to the Club. He did have to get the coach back to Richmond. More driving into the Sun.

A big thank thank you to Kathy also. This had been an ongoing project originally discussed many, many months ago. And to bring it to fruition in the mannner she did with the magnificent result certainly derserves our accolades.

Thank you to Di, Jenny & others for photos. You can see the gallery HERE
