Christmas Party 2022

After many, many hours of planning & preparation the Camberwell Petanque Club 2022 Christmas Party finally arrived.

Fine weather (what’s that) added in making for a brilliant night.

The Christmas atmosphere was immediately set on entering the room by the incredibly wonderful hand crafted Christmas table Decorations settings created by Barbi. (How cruel though for both Barbi & Baard, who were unable to see the final effect, as they were unable to attend due to that dreaded virus.)

Adding to the atmosphere was the selection of Christmas tunes emanating from the Clubs solid sound system.

To get things underway, a welcome was made by the Prez. Who, on behalf of the Club thanked all those involved in getting this event organised. Thanks was also made to those who had brought along plates for nibbles and desert. Mention was made of NOT reading the fine print in the Presidents job description which included ironing table cloths.

Much appreciation was shown for those that brought along the plates for the hors d'oeuvres table.

Reducing an overflowing table to almost bare in a matter of minutes was an amazing thing to see.

Then came the main course. How fantastic was that. Talk about a loaded table of Festival Fare. Something for everyone. Hmmm! The turkey, the ham, the salmon and oh those chicken wings. They weren’t burnt, just caramelized. Hmmmm! too, to those other non meat dishes.

The microphone was handed to Kathy from the Social Committee who recognised those that had put so much into making the event. In Particular, Marion, Leigh, Jenny and Barbi, as well as Mick & Trish for their job of the ham.

Rex took the opportunity to present a mini president’s report. This included acknowledgement of the Club Committee and those that had given exceptional service to the Club;

Robert Pozzobon for his excellent Coaching Clinics
Max Thomas as inventor of the year and the major input in establishing the string lines.
Wayne Adams for his work on installing the permanent scorers, and string lines as well as his continual piste management.
Leigh Grummisch for her incredible effort in introducing so many new members to the club. At one stage 10%

All The Rakers

And all the openers that run the day for our members. Colin & Helen, Vinze Mueller, Andrew Carroll, Tony Davis, Michael Young, Greg Harris, Noella Adams, Mick Berry, Denis Wiliams, Paul Williams, Warren Jenkins.

The award for Club Person of the year was made to Wayne Adams

The music was cranked up a little and even an ABBA request hit the speakers when the deserts appeared on the table. They were all magnificent. This writer particularly enjoyed Gordana’s Large presentation, Robert Pozzobon’s Hand made biscuits and all the Pavlova and cream Yumm indeed.

Many, many gracious comments were received on how members enjoyed the night and that feedback has been passed on to the organisers.

There were a number of members who had been coming but last minute issues prevented them doing so. They were missed and they missed a great evening

And a big thank you to all that could attend. A party is not a party without you.
