CPC Petanquistatdores Travel the World to Battle Petanque Monster

Leigh, and later, John Muscat set off on a European tour in search of all kinds of adventures and pistes looking for the perfect playing fields as well as catching up with another CPC member; Jenny Walford

On the way to Trausse Village in Southern France to meet up with Jenny, Leigh came across a few games in Barcelona and made these observations:

"Having a ball everywhere I've been. Love Barcelona, where I've seen games of Petanque being played in the beautiful garden areas down the middle of many wide boulevards. Pistes seem newly installed, and are being well used by locals."

On Reaching Trausse ("It's a lovely little village surrounded by endless vineyards and olive trees, which add to the picturesque view whatever direction you look. The area is called the Minervois. Superb!") and playing on the Trausse Community Piste, which is at at an altitude of 90 metres, Leigh made this comment:

"The piste is much used in the summer time by locals, but has been untended over winter and is in need of some TLC at present."

It was during one of the games Leigh and Jenny were playing here when they had an encounter with the Terrible 4 legged Petanque Monster. (see top image)

It is rumoured that this monster started it's life as a normal Petaque player but became so addicted to the game and in trying to find the perfect piste that it evolved into the 4 legged monster that it now is. It walks the world over in a never ending search for what we know can never exist. So people, be careful out there. This could be you.

Packing Boules in anticipation of a game or two, Jenny, Leigh and her Friend Bev, then headed across to Carcassone to meet up with John Muscat and wife, Mary.

Here is John's report of the Game:

"Jenny, Leigh and Bev (Leigh's friend had lunch and a great game with Mary (my wife) and me in Carcassonne. 3 Vs 2 players, the 3's won 13 to 9.

Mary and Bev were the stars and are likely to become new members of CPC very soon."

Wow! What a fantastic outcome.

All good things must come to an end and Leigh is probably back on home soil as this goes to press.
