Welcome to our April 2026 Newsletter

We hosted the VPCI Shooting finals and VPCI Singles which were very busy and successful days for the club. Congratulations to all competitors and thanks to the helpers who made these events possible.

Please consider joining our committee. There are vacancies for two general committee members from September, details are outlined below. We were awarded a grant from Bendigo Community Bank which will help fund piste repairs and, finally, save the date for the next Intraclub. It's always a great day. Read on to find out more...

Our next Intraclub Competition - save the date.

Keep Saturday 9 May free for the Intra Club Competition. The format will be the usual 4 games Swiss doubles with a lunch break in the middle.

Doubles teams will be formed by a seeded draw, with less experienced players partnered with those who are more experienced to level out the competition. We encourage new members to join in. Registrations will open in the May Newsletter.

Our club will be closed on Good Friday

Members are not permitted to access the club on Good Friday as outlined in the Licence Agreement between the club and the Council. The agreement states that the clubrooms and external areas, including the pistes, are not to be used on Good Friday (and Christmas Day).

We understand that activities have taken place on Good Friday in the past, unfortunately these have been in breach of the Agreement.  We acknowledge that this is disappointing for members who have made plans for this coming Good Friday, however, it is worth noting that our Licence Agreement comes up for review this year.

Vacant committee roles coming up in September

We have had a very good response in our callout for a President and Treasurer for the next committee. We also need two more roles filled following the AGM in September.  Full training and support will be provided.

Communications: writing the monthly newsletter, sending the occasional email or SMS to members and running the club facebook page. Skills required - writing and communications skills, confident but not expert PC skills.

Enjoying the game: organising tournaments, generally promoting the game and enabling members to get the most enjoyment from the sport.  Knowledge & skills required: organising  skills, preparedness to run intraclub or other petanque based activities around the club.

As always, the kitchen formed an important part of the day and works as a fundraising activity for the club.  Kathy did a wonderful job organising. Also helping were Mary, Rosie Margaret and Pam. For more pics go to our facebook page.

Thanks to the mulch movers Michael Young and Robert Pozzebon who worked together to raise garden beds to make them safer. And to Wayne who also added the mulch to other garden areas.

Great job at the shooting trial and final. These events take quite a bit of organising and volunteer support. Special thanks to Wayne, Rex, Ken, Greg, Guy & Vinz.

Clubroom care

A gentle reminder for all members to look after the clubrooms. They are shared by seven other other organisations as well as hired for events.

Check all doors and cupboards are locked. There have been recent instances where the back door has been unlocked  and the TV cupboard has been left open.

Put all items back where they belong. The cupboards have been cleaned and reorganised, a big thanks to the team working in the kitchen at the Singles Competition for doing this.

Leave the area clean, this includes empting bins and wiping benches putting away used items.

No dogs are permitted inside the premises (support dogs are welcome).
