Celebrate Christmas with us

You are invited to our Christmas Party on Saturday 6 December 6.30pm for a 7pm start. To get the festive spirit flowing, there will be bubbles on arrival, then prepare your tastebuds for a delicious three course Christmas themed dinner. Our regular party helpers, Claire and Sam, will be there to manage the kitchen duties so all members can relax and have a fun night. Vegetarians will be catered for, let us know when you book. The evening will include the announcement of the winners of our Club Awards.

A contribution of $25pp towards catering costs is payable in advance, payment details will be provided when you RSVP. Tell us you are coming by pressing the button below. RSVP by 28th November for catering purposes.

Members’ contact list to be circulated soon

It has been a while, but we will soon be circulating an updated members’ contact list to everyone in the club. Owing to privacy concerns, we will provide only members’ names and mobile phone numbers. Please let us know here if you do not wish to share your information with members, and we will remove your name and number from this and subsequent lists.

We encourage members to join the club WhatsApp groups that provide an easy way to contact members (see details below).

It's getting warmer - drink more water

We encourage all members to stay hydrated  when they play. Take your water bottle or a non breakable tumbler out onto the pistes with you and SIP SIP SIP.

Podcast:  A Story to Tell Season 2

A Story to Tell is a podcast created by Rex in which members of our club share their life stories. Season 2 has just dropped. The first episode features one of our members, the very talented artist Vicki McInnes.

So far we have been entertained by a number of members’ stories. You can find A Story to Tell on Spotify or wherever you listen to podcasts. Otherwise, click on this link to Rex’s website.

Saturday competition rules clarification

In order to win a prize on Saturdays, you must play all three games and be present for the presentation of prizes at the end of the day. A high score and only two games played won’t get you that cheeky red.

Gordana joins our Committee

We welcome Gordana to the committee. She will bring new ideas and fresh perspectives to the table and we look forward to working with her. All positions on the committee are now filled. Thanks to Gordana for volunteering following a call out to members in the last newsletter.

Join our club’s WhatsApp Community

Keep in touch with members through our new WhatsApp Community. We have set up groups for each play day and cards.  You can message a group about play days, find out who is coming on a particular day, maybe organise coffee before or after!  This is all about providing an informal means of communicating between members.

Our only requirement is that members do not message the whole group with communications only intended for one or two people. There is a feature that allows you to privately message individual members also in the group (if you are not sure how, please ask).

WhatsApp groups are not intended to replace formal club communications. Newsletters and emails from the club will continue. Game days cancellations will still be sent via SMS.

Use the QR code above  to sign up, or scan the QR code on display in the clubrooms.

Another big intraclub comp

Brilliant Intraclub tournament held last month. 34 teams battled it out in perfect conditions. The winners were everyone who participated especially those who stayed for wine and cheese at the end. Congratulations to winners Andy with Sue/Neil, place getters Rosie with Mark (2nd), and Guy with David (3rd). Special thanks to Bob and Paul for organising.

Bin reminder for Monday & Wednesday players

We ask Monday players to place the bins out on Through Road after play and Wednesday players to bring them in. The Veterans Car Club will bring them in on the first two Tuesdays of the month, if they forget, Wednesday players need to cover.

A roster has been placed on  the main door of the clubrooms advising which bins should be put our every week. (Garbage is fortnightly, Green waste and recycling are weekly). If you have any questions please use the feedback button at the bottom of the newsletter.

Have a game of cards, last Friday in the month

Games are held on the last Friday of every month from 3pm. Have fun, learn how to play, our games masters Leigh, Pam or Deidre are happy to show you how. The next cards session is Friday 29 November.
