Autumn is the perfect time of year to play petanque. We are hosting the Mixed Doubles Tournament and there is the Intraclub Competition as well. To top that off, our much anticipated Trivia Night will be the social highlight of the month.
Book now for Trivia Night - Saturday 30 May
Our Quizmaster, Leigh, will get your brain cells working! There will be trivia quiz rounds, surprises with other games and challenges, prizes and lots of FUN.
Arrive at 6.30pm. Games start at 7.00pm sharp. Expect to finish around 10.30pm.
We will create tables of 6-8 participants or organise your own. If arranging a table, please provide the names of all team members when booking. To keep it fair, the maximum size is 8 people.
BYO drinks and snacks for your own table.
Cost is $10 per person. Payable at the door - card payments preferred. Entry fee covers the cost of lucky door prizes, game prizes and contributes to fundraising.
RSVP now. Numbers will be capped at 90 people attending.
Arrive at 9:30am, play will start at 10.00am sharp. The format will be the usual 4 games Swiss doubles with a lunch break in the middle. If you don’t wish to play all 4 games, team up with another player and play 2 games each, please form your pair when you register.
New members are encouraged to join in. Doubles teams will be arranged by a seeded draw, less experienced players will be partnered with those who are more experienced to level out the competition. The tournament will be for fun not prizes. This event will replace our normal Saturday play. Members not wishing to take part can play informally on other pistes.
At the end of play, you are invited to stay for wine and nibbles. Registrations close midnight Wednesday 6 May.
The Mixed Doubles Tournament will be held on Sunday 24 May. Be there by 9.30 for a 10.00am start. Entry fee is $25 per person payable on the day. This is always a popular competition at the club, there are still a few spots available. To find our more and to register a team go to My Petanque.
Kitchen helpers needed on Sunday 24 May for Mixed Doubles
If you have a couple of hours to spare on 24 May, would you be willing to volunteer to help in the kitchen?
You don't need cooking skills, there are a wide variety of jobs to do. Our catering at tournaments is always appreciated by players and enhances our reputation as a welcoming club. It is also a nice little fundraiser!
Early notice - changes to membership renewal process
We are advising members in advance about some changes to membership renewals.Members are not required to do anything until June when the invoices are sent.
Fee changes: The fees have increased from $115 to $120 for full members. This is because PFA increased their fee by $5 to $40 last year. This additional charge was absorbed by the club for the 2025/26 season. The Associate Members fee is $80 (the same as member’s fees less the PFA licence). Fees were agreed at the last AGM.
Invoicing: Look out for an email invoice from Camberwell Petanque Club in early June. This invoice will be auto generated from our membership system (RevSPORT).
Payment due date: Please pay in full by 26 June.- this will give us time to finalise our membership list before the PFA invoices the club for each member on 30 June. If you are unable to pay by the due date please contact Faye and we will make arrangements for you.
Late payments: Members who have not paid by this date will not be insured with the PFA and therefore ineligible to play from 1 July. We will reinstate members who pay after this date. A reminder SMS will be sent shortly before the cut off date to those who have not paid.
Not renewing? It would be helpful to let us know by 26 June. Contact Faye using the link below.
Painting works and other good deeds around the club
The kitchen will be getting painted from Saturday 2 May (starting 5pm) to Monday 4 May, as part of regular maintenance,. We thank fellow lessees, the Victorian Veterans Car Club for doing this work.
Thanks to Damien for painting the piste dividers. Great Job! Apart from making them look good, the paint will help prevent them from rotting further.
