The main items in this month's newsletter are the next Intraclub Tournament and a Family and Friends petanque evening, both in February. Check out the Upcomingsection to see what's happening throughout the year. We also have sad news about the passing of two of our members, Thracy and Carole.
Thanks to Wayne and Jeannot for building some much needed shelving in the storage shed for the Days for Girls Camberwell Chapter. DFG are a wonderful charity who share the premises with our club. Good on you guys for bringing some Christmas kindness (and carpentry) to DFG who, by all accounts, are absolutely rapt! Find out more about Days for Girls here.
Register now for the Intraclub Competition 7 February
Arrive at 9:30am for a 10am start (sharp). The format will be the usual 4 games Swiss doubles with a lunch break in the middle. If you don’t want to play all 4 games, team up with another player and play 2 games each, but please form your pair when you register.
Doubles teams will be formed by a seeded draw, with less experienced players partnered with those who are more experienced to level out the competition. The tournament will be for fun not prizes. This event will replace our normal Saturday play. Members not wishing to take part can play informally on other pistes.
To register (or you if need to cancel, or have any questions) call Bob on 0414 403 733 or email using the link below. At the end of play, you are invited to stay for wine and nibbles. Players of all levels very welcome.
Bring family and friends along for a fun social evening of petanque. It's all happening on Friday 20 February from 5pm. You can play out of the bucket with members or form teams with your guests. Boules will be supplied and the BBQ willl be cranked up. BYO dinner and drinks. All ages welcome! Please RSVP with numbers attending and include the age of any children coming along. This will help us organise boules and sufficent helpers.

If you haven't done so already, please provide the name and phone number of a person we can contact in an emergency by emailing Coleen here.

Join the committee in 2025 -26
A number of our committee members are stepping down at the next AGM. The roles being vacated are General Committee Member, Treasurer, Vice President and President.
We are giving advance notice to allow members time to consider joining the next committee, this will ensure our wonderful club continues to thrive. You will hear more over the coming months.
If you have any questions, ask any committee member when you see them, or email Coleen here.
Vale Thracy and Carole
We sadly farewell two of our members
Thracy Vinga passed away suddenly following a short illness. We all know Thracy as a larger than life character, he loved his extended holidays to Europe every year (especially France!) He lived life to the full. Our thoughts go out to his wife Kath and son Tom. A celebration of his life will be held at 75 Reid St Fitzroy on January 12 at 11.30 am. Should you wish to attend, please text Kath on 0412 275 558 (for catering purposes). Club members are most welcome.
Carole Lanyon passed away unexpectedly last month. She was a regular Saturday player who joined the club in 2021. She always came to play with her friend Liz and could be seen having a quiet chat with members over lunch. She enjoyed the game and her hearty chuckles could be heard when she did a good shot. Her funeral has already been held. We send our sympathies to her family.

Do you use the microwave or sandwich press? If you use an appliance in the clubrooms, please wipe it down after use.
Please empty the bins after every play session. Even Friday nights. If there is a cancellation of play on Saturday then the bins will be dirty for clubroom hirers.
